Why Nasciturus?
In mid-July 2018 we were informed that the pregnancy was not going well. It was the first and last time that we experienced the feeling of being a parent.
The only memory that we keep as a treasure is a sonogram with the blurred image of an unborn baby.
What is the intention of Nasciturus project?
The project aims to bring to light the grief generated by the loss of a baby, through photography and artificial intelligence (AI).
The perinatal or gestational mourning, due to either voluntary or non-voluntary termination of pregnancy, is undervalued. It is rarely taken into consideration by society and by the health system. Parents usually experience their grief with a feeling of loneliness, silence and secrecy.
Why do we need your help?
Nasciturus will deal with loss and mourning through the creation of a fictional child that will be generated by artificial intelligence.
In order to develop the neural networks with the artificial intelligence model that we will use, we need you to send us images of biological parents and biological children.

Ownership and publication of the pictures
The pictures will always belong to their owners. The pictures will only be used to develop the AI, and they will not be exhibited or published unless the owner voluntarily agrees by selecting one of the authorization boxes.
Owners of the pictures can also authorize pictures to be included in a database created by the UIB (Balearic Islands University) that may be used exclusively for academic purposes.

How long will the pictures be stored?
The pictures taken will be removed once the software for fictional image creation has been developed. In case you have accepted the pictures to be used in broadcasting or publication actions, they will be stored from the moment the models of the portraits give their consent until this consent is withdrawn and up to a maximum of 3 years.
If you have accepted the pictures to be part of a database used by UIB for research purposes, they will be stored from the moment the models of the portraits give their consent until this consent is withdrawn and up to a maximum of 3 years.

What features should pictures have?
• Portraits of biological parents and their children. For example, you may include their parents, their grandparents, their siblings, as well as their partners.
• The face should be properly seen in the portrait.
• The image size cannot exceed 10 MB, however, we would appreciate the image to have the best possible
quality.

Can I send several pictures of the same person? At different ages?
Yes, you can. We are interested in getting as many references as possible. But it is essential not to forget to send them together with their relatives (parents, children…) and to identify them properly in the form.

Can I take a picture of my paper photos or scan them?
Yes, you can. They don’t have to be pictures taken with a mobile phone or a digital camera.
